New York City became the first jurisdiction to officially observe Disability Pride Month in July 2015 to honor the 25th anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Since then, cities and towns across the U.S. have celebrated Disability Pride Month every July, though it has yet to be established formally at the federal level.
